There may be a way to make longer bezel of wood to cover the gap. I am thinking about doing an insert of wood (a la Laramie) of the front radio area and door panels. At that time, a matched wood "gap cover" for the console "wood" look pretty good, IMO.

Very nice! If I could find one cheap enough, I would love to do this mod! But now that everyone here knows, parts will be hard to find!

Default No fun for the sport shifters

I'm assuming anyone that doesn't have it on the tree can kiss the idea of "road head" goodbye?

My mind has been running on its own again, trying to picture what could be done to the inside of a center console without a shifter, to make use of the unused space

the 2013 Ram with the buckets & the Rotary shift knob will also have the same setup as pictured above
I am not sure but some of the 2500 & 3500s with the column shifter & bucket seats, will also have the same setup
The Border Patrol 2500s, have bucket seats & they have a special console. It has a couple radios, switch panels, etc. in it

Interesting note : The 2012 SSV ( special services vehicle )
As for the Ram 1500 SSV, there is a factory wire harness with 2 100 amp fuses, that will run from the grill to the center console. You will be able to get all power for equipment, as well as have wires for grill/bumper lights and speaker. HLF/TLF are built in. It should be an easy plug and play install.

to me, i would have to come up with some way to use all that wasted space inside the basically dummy center console. Like a hidden motorized tray with a Ipad or something attached to it, or a safe, a CD holder, or maybe a ice chest
