Installed one last night. Honestly.
Its my first time installing a sound system and I put two Kicker CVR 12s in with a 750 watt Kicker amp. I installed everything last night in my 2008 Quad Cab and it went pretty good.
The LOC was SIMPLE...not neccessarily EASY. Again, I'm a first-timer. It wasn't a hard concept to grasp, you just had to be sure you had all the wires right. I followed the directions that came in my LOC and spliced the four wires into my right front pos, right front neg, left front pos, and left front neg wires in the back of the stock radio. This thread link should help you be sure you get the speaker wire colors right:
As far as the remote turn-on wire, the LOC didn't have a connection for that. I just tapped (as someone else did on here) into the hot wire on my left 12V outlet (or the actual cigarette lighter plug) which is a "key-on" only outlet meaning when the key is out of the ignition, it doesn't stay on. This is important, so as not to drain your battery. If I would have tapped into the 12V outlet on the right of my dash, it is a "constant-on" port and I'm pretty sure my amp would drain my battery overnight.
To clarify, I installed A
LOC last night. I'm not sure the model number. When I said mine did not have a remote lead for the remote turn-on, I wasn't meaning the one you were looking at was not going to come with one. The LOC I purchased, did not.
I'll check tomorrow for my model number and try to post on here.
