Just take your time, make sure to read the instructions a few times over and to know where everything goes. It is a fairly simple install, just don't try rushing anything and triple check everything over to make sure everything looks like it sits properly.

You were right about the instructions being good. Installed it today no real issues. It was a tight fit, like real real tight with the AC lines that run along the side of the engine bay. Also no issues with threads on some of the screws that someone mentioned in a different thread.

Well, I never thought I'd be writing this, but here goes.
Got my S&B today, just finished installing it and off the hop, I'm feeling kinda let down. .
I was really expecting a nice growl as most CAI's do and honestly I don't hear a thing except at wide open throttle....and I really don't drive my truck like that on a regular basis.
It looks awesome, but for what were paying looks just aren't enough.
This isn't an install you could screw up. Nothing wrong could cause it to be so quiet. The main intake boot was a bit short as I've seen mentioned before and I really had to work at it to make sure the piping was mated together far enough. Basically, you better hope those hose clamps never back off or there's going to be separation.
Anyway, the fitment isn't the biggest issue, I'm just pretty let down that it's so quiet. I was kinda looking forward to that awesome growl.

The one thing I'm wondering if it's quiet mainly because the filter is basically still enclosed behind the lid which would quiet it down. I may remove the clear cover for a short run and see if that changes the tone....if it does then I'll know that's the reason and I'll have to decide what I want to do.

Anyone have any valuable input into what I've experienced? I certainly was convinced I made the better choice by choosing S&B.

That what ive heard also. the quality is top notch, but since you dont gain a whole lot going enclosed vs one with a heat shield that seals to the hood, im going that route to hear that CAI sound!! Plus, a k&n can be had for 215 on amazon.

Well here's the thing you both need to ask yourself. Do you want performance or do you want sound? The whole purpose of a cold air intake is to get the coldest air possible. That's why it's a sealed unit. So yes you can take the lid off or get a K&N but then you aren't getting any performance over stock. In fact you're going backwards.
If all you want is sound, drill a few big wholes in the bottom of your stock box and call it a day. Then you aren't spending any money and you're ending up with what you want.

Only problem with open is if you are offroading or any mudding because its a lot more open to the enviroment. With the S&B you can close off the second intake port to have to it run more enclosed.. Yea the let down is the quitness.. But with an exhaust you rarely ever hear intake sound unless you are reving it and standing infront with hood popped open.

I know that is not a problem for your truck and offroading.. But just saying open vs enclosed.
