Default 88 k5

I don't know if there are any Chevy fans here but before I got my RAM I was a 100% Chevy guy. I still have my 1988 K5 blazer so I figured I'd post some pictures of it through all the phases of its life:

Here's some pics of what it used to look like, still had a 305 and 700r4 and it was just a heap of crap:

Here's a couple pics of the disgusting 305 that was in the truck, notice the cold water intake...

First week I owned it I took it through a swamp with a buddy of mine around 11pm, well I got majorly stuck, turns out my rear axle was buried under water and was caught on a tree stump. My buddy took his ram charger, 100ft of strap, went from my tow hook to his hitch, backed up bumper to bumper and took off full speed. My frame gave way, he ended ripping off my bumper, tow hooks, and front pieces of my frame, they almost flew through his rear window. After more ram charger pulling and another guy on a come-along we finally got the k5 out around 3am. Here's the aftermath:

I put an end to that problem, boxed, plated, bolted, welded:

A while after that and lots of mud bogging later my 700r4 blew up so i decided to upgrade the drive train. 383/th400/dual stick part time converted np203 transfer case:

transfer case build:

Locking t-case diff to make it part time:

Yes the t-case is huge...but unbreakable:

Also cleaned up the underbody:

Then I moved onto the interior and fixed it up a little:

The tilt steering got a little sloppy so I rebuilt the steering column:

A year or so down the road it was time to tackle the rust. I knew it has some problem spots but I had no idea how bad it was because the previous owner had bedlined the bottom the the truck. Here's what I found:

So I grabbed some patch pannels, a welder, lots of bondo and some fiber glass and worked on it for about 5 months:

Then I set up my grandpas pole barn as best as I could as a paint shop:

Right after paint:

And here's some pics of it with the new paint job, which was just a single stage paint kit from summitracing.com no clear coat needed.

And here are some random pictures of it in some mud:

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with this truck yet. The last time It's ran was in may when I brought it up to the trucks gone wild event in Romeo, Michigan. Its currently for sale on craigslist but I'm thinking of taking it off because I don't know if I can part with it. If I keep it, its going to finally get a 6" lift with 35" tires and the two 1 ton axles I've had for almost 2 years now. Its mostly for show now, I haven't been mud bogging in years since all of my friends either blew up their trucks or sold them due to gas prices. Let me know what you guys think about the truck.

Thats like the greatest year chevelle ever made, you shouldn't ever get rid of that.

I was actually thinking of yanking the 383 out of this truck and building either a 1969 camaro or a 1972 chevelle for it, and then building a 454 for the truck. But that all involves a lot of money that I'm not sure I want to spend yet.
