Default Snowplow on a 03 1500

Hey guys, I live in michigan and we get a decent amount of snow. I have a plow on my dad 1982 f350, but I am wanting to put a plow on my own truck. I just want some opinions on if you think my 1500 will take it.

Man I drive a truck and I used to go to the northeast all the time, not anymore though. And it seemed like every guy with a truck had a plow on. I think you'll be fine so go with it! Although I would suggest putting some Bilstein 5100's on your truck during winter, or some spacers

Thanks. I know what you mean about plows being on every truck, but its ALOT better then freezing your ass off without a cab and heat. I have access to 2 plow trucks but one is a 1989 chevy 1500 and the other is a 1982 ford f350 but neither are mine, and now I have my baby(03 reg cab short box hemi 4x4)

I certainly wouldn't do it with a 1/2 ton, although I've seen guys do it with even lighter vehicles like a Blazer, International Scout or Jeep CJ -- they had lots of mechanical problems though. I wouldn't even put a plow on my 2500HD without changing to 3500 front springs 1st. I grew up in Indiana & Michigan & one of my best friends made a LOT of $$$ plowing snow every year -- but -- he built his truck to do it. He started with a 1/2 ton (LWB) but when he got done it was a 1 ton -- new suspension, axles, transfer case & transmission including B&M torque converter & shift kit. And because he built the truck with the intention of using a plow he never had any problems with it.
