Default Customize 2012 Ram 1500

Hey everyone!
My husband purchased a 2012 Ram 1500 [black] in December. And then was deployed to Afghanistan on short notice.
He never got the opportunity to customize his new truck like he had planned, since our fist baby came along in January, then he deployed last month.
Since he is giving all for this family this year, I have decided to give back, in a way in which he will TRULY appreciate it!
Most Army wives surprise their men with smaller gifts or something, But I want to give him his dream truck.
I have shopped around at local retailers here in the New Orleans area, but I quickly came to the realization that I am not taken seriously, and I am an easy opportunity to make a quick buck.
SO, consequently, I am here, to further educate myself, and get ideas, suggestions, & input from everyone!
Its greatly appreciated!
I am looking for: exhaust systems, bed liners, head lights, hoods, etc.
Thank you in advance- MC

If your truck has the MyGiG system, consider using the American Made, NAV-TV - ALLGIG_XG_HS and AVCable.

This will unlock the factory DVD + Navigation so you two can enjoy trips and the passengers can input navigation addresses and the DVD will have Video in Motion.

If you are concerned for Safety, the AVcable will allow you to add a Backup Camera to your husbands Ram. In addition the AVcable will let you add an Audio Video Source and Rear Output.

NAV-TV is an American Manufacturer and Supports its Troops.

We are Proud to Offer (((15%))) Off for Active Military.

EXHAUST, Nothing sounds as good as a hemi with exhaust none of the other makes can produce the sound a hemi makes. if you are looking to keep the warranty on that new truck you can do anything after the cats. (catalytic converter) a simple "cutback exhaust can really make the sound of the truck change from ok to great. also there are other options. for example what i did. its a little cheaper and you get the same sound. i just cut out the stock motor and welded in the new performance muffler.the brand of the muffler is all preference but i would 100% go with a stainless steel one. you won't have to worry about rusting. (that is what comes stock on all vehicle.) Flowmaster, magna flow, SLP are all great brands of exhaust

LIGHTING, Do you know if he likes projector lights? the ones found on most high end vehicles like benz or lexus. if so recon offers a great selection of black, or chrome lights if not and you just want to go with maybe a smoked look go with Euro type lights. what these look like is the stock headlights with no colored reflectors everything is clear and clean. for visibility i would go with HID's in the headlights and fog lights a 6000K setup is the best for visibility the higher the number the more color you will get with the bulb. (Examble 10000K bulbs are blue and turn everything they shine on blue 15000k are purple.)

BEDLINERS, if he is going to have a tannuea cover i would go with a bed rug unless he is going to be hauling mulch and things like that. with or without a cover i would just put a drop in plastic liner or a spray in Rhino liner
As for hoods and body parts that is all preference and a quick google search would bring up all the hoods available for his truck.

This is my truck with rims, tinted taillights, and a bed cover. as soon as i get it back from the body shop i will post pictures of the headlights that i put in the day before i dropped it off to the shop.

This is a picture of what a bed rug looks like...as you can see its just like a trunk so hauling loose dirt would not be a good idea

if you have any questions be sure to ask them everybody on this site is very helpful and i hope your husband loves what you do to the truck

First off thank your husband for his service I'm an ex Army guy myself, second you are a GREAT wife and third yeah unfortunately a lot of shops treat women with zero respect and honesty.

As far as mods go everyone has different opinions, I live in CA so I'm sure things may be differently priced where you are but from my automotive experience I would suggest,

Exhaust- You don't have to get a full new exhaust you can just have them weld in a muffler, Magnaflow is great (little quieter) and I personally run Flowaster. Should cost you about $150 bucks for just a muffler and having it welded in.

Intake- I prefer K&N but I am hearing really good things about Airaid and that should run you about $300 bucks.

Bedliner- Not sure what your plans are a lot of people love the bed rugs if you plan on a tonneau although if you plan to go with a spray in liner I personally would go with Line-X becasue it's the one I've had the best experience with, which should run you about $4-500 bucks tops.

As far as other mods keep checking out the forums and pictures I'm new here but have already seen a ton of things I want to do to my truck.

Oh and buy him a ton of detailing products if he's anything like me he will want to keep that thing clean, there are tons of good products if you want to save money go to Wally World and buy the Meguiar's stuff.

Best of luck and post up the progress.

Welcome to the Z! Nice to have you join us!!!

Some great posts here already with ideas.

Exhaust, Magnaflow makes a great exhaust with larger tips for the Rams that look great. When you go this route make sure to get the proper Y pipe.

Headlights, if you go to projectors like the Recon's back them up with a 55 watt HID setup, if you are staying with stock lenses I don't recommend going any bigger than a 35 watt setup as the glare gets to be a bit much.

Bedrug is the only way to go IMO, I love mine. Get the Mopar bedrug as it has the Rams head in the front and is a perfect fit. Couple it with a roll up tonneau and it makes for one large trunk. I have the Truxedo Lo Pro QT, awesome roll up lasts forever.
