Default Shop won't install Bilsteins

Posted this in the 4th Gen Suspension section, no replies so I'm trying here..... New to the board, so I'm still figuring out where the most activity happens....
I took my '11 1500 Laramie (4WD) to have Bilstein 5100s installed in all four corners - the shop called me and reported that they can't take the spring seat off the OEM strut because it is blocked by a cap/nut that prevents it from sliding off the cartridge tube. And the there's a sticker that says "DO NOT DISASSEMBLE", so the tech is afraid the internal pressure in the strut will be released and countless thousands will die in the resulting explosion if he removes the cap.
I know this is silly, and found posts detailing the removal of the cap. But they won't finish the job without an official reference - and I have one shoulder in stitches, can't do the job myself.
Can someone point me to a site or resource that references removal of the spring perch on the front struts? Great board, BTW - and thanks in advance!

A Spring Compressor is required to remove the spring off the factory strut. Once the spring is compressed you can remove the cap then install the spring on the bilstein. Once installed and secured on the bilstein remove the Spring Compressor.

Good advice - I did find another shop, owner told me he will do the install on Monday, and he's not afraid of the strut exploding when he removes the dust cap.
Looks like I found one local chain in Fredericksburg to avoid - at least I learned without anything being broken.....

I would try a real shop they don't sound like the people I want working on my rig. Find a better shop and you should be good. Usually a real 4x4 shop will have the exp. to do it right.

Triple agree with everyones comments on that shops inexperience with your OE Tokico coilovers ScottE. I did my 5100's myself and have to say that dust cap on your stock shock is just that, nothing more. It isn't holding any gas pressure behind hit, but only clamped or crimped on four of it's sides and is easily knocked off by a rubber mallet. Then you just do the same for the spring seat and slide it off the shock. Real easy if your mechanically inclined to DIY.
