Default Transmission Fluid in 4wd Actuator

I've been having problems with abnormal noise while in 4wd, so while trying to determine the cause I opened up the 4wd actuator and a substantial amount (about a pint) of transmission fluid poured out. Has anybody had similar experiences or any wisdom they can share with me regarding this?

It's a 1998 Ram 1500 5.9L

Default

Personally, I would think a little dextron in there would be a good deal, kinda like glycerin in a gauge, a shock absorber, of sorts, and its very high detergent, and anti corrosive!!
