Default modding questions

hey everyone im new to the cummins world and have some questions

i have always wanted a turbo diesel im gona be tradeing in my turbo subaru wrx i have modded that so im familer with turbos mods and tunes anyway...

im gona buy a 99 cummins and im not sure how easy it is to gain power i noticed its only 215 and 420 and most chips and power programers dont add as much power as the newer cummins engines gain

so with a full exsaust intake and with and with out a tune what kind of power gains should i expect to see ??

also how do i tune it do most tuners come with pre loaded maps or dose it need to be tuned by someone that knows whats goin on with a dyno

also how easy is it to install injectors
im fairly good with machanics i enjoy doing my own work and maintance if i have the proper tools

any awnsers and insight about the 99 models and weather i should buy it and mod it or buy a new cummins for the extra stock hp
Thanks guys and or gals

If you combine a tuner like the Smarty, love mine, not only is it very easy to fine tune by loading tunes of from itself but fine tune beyond that, add injectors and a fueling box and you will have a pretty quick truck before even a turbo as long as you can get it to the ground. Built tranny and fueling mods are much needed before you can reach the potential of that power. There are you tube videos on injector installs. good luck

my 01 has the same engine as the 99 and i have an old edge programmer and 100 horsepower injectors. it dynoed at 305 horsepower and 625 lb ft of torque at the rear wheels. injectors are fairly easy but the back ones suck to get a wrench on. so a bit of creativity may be needed.
