Default What do you wash with???? sponge, brush, mitt?? etc..

What do you guys use to wash your shiny new vehicle without scratching it???? I have used a wash mit in the past but I just paid $50,000 for a new truck and I need to wash it but I want to avoid the scratches and swirl marks that can occur.... What does everyone suggest.. Its my understanding that you should avoid sponges and brushes but what type of mitt or cloth do you use????? I plan to buy all new, new bucket, car wash, and mitt or sponge to wash with so I don't have something with any old dirt in it... I'll keep my old stuff to wash the Can-Am...

Im also thinking of putting on a nice coat of wax but again I don't want to scratch it or cause any swirl marks in this beautiful new truck....

thanks guys.....

I use the micro fiber mitten to wash, a micro fiber bug sponge for the front gunk, and have a sponge that I use on the wheel wells and inside of my R/T rims.

Default No Scratches!

I wash with a micro fiber sponge, then to dry use a leaf blower. Never touch the truck in the drying process, when the water dries up then no more lube action going on if you know what I mean!

+1 on the microfiber mitt!!! Also use the 2 bucket method. Before you wax your new truck make sure you clay bar it first.

Two bucket method, Mircrofiber sponge, Chenille microfiber wash mop(for roof, hood and tonneau). Two Brushes for the wheels, tires and wheel wells. Air dry and then use microfiber cloths to apply and remove quick detailer or wax.

the scmitt wash mitt is good and so is the lake country foam wash sponge. avoid ll wash brushes, unless you are going to get a boars hair brush for the wheels and undercarriage, but only use them for their intended uses.

throw a sealant or wax on before you instill too many swirls and follwo the 2 bucket wash method pull ya described. also avoid auto car washes and never never never use anything like the california car duster. invest in some QD for the in between washes, but make sure you apply it properly.

Go to these web sites and read some of the information they have to offer before you decide on any products. Autopia.org and autogeek.net. Autopia is a professional detailer site that professional detailers compare notes and compare products they use and also they answer questions about the methods they use. They also show off some of their work. Autogeek sells detailer products and they also compare different products and also explain the use of different products and what type of results you can expect using their products. You can also learn about clay bars , their use, and what results you can expect and why you should use a clay bar before you seal/wax your vehicle. If you clay bar your truck, look closely at the surface to see if you have any small scrtaches left by the clay bar. If so, you will need to polish the surface to remove the scratches before you either seal or wax your vehilce. I would recomend you use a good sealant(Wolfgang 3.0) and a good wax(Collinite 845) I am sure you will be happy with the results and the surface will be protected for about 6-7 months. You can then use a good spray detailer after every wash inbetween sealing and waxing your truck.
