Default Front axle leak

I have a 1996 ram sport 1/2 ton and just rebuilt the whole front end and now the drivers side front axle is leaking gear oil at a pretty good rate,So i have searched and seen what to do but i am curious do i have to remove the intermediate shaft out the passengers side or just move it over a bit as i didnt really want to replace that seal seeing it isnt leaking,,Also is there any videos on taking the carrier out and then reinstalling it?I have heard where some guys have to winch there carrier out and seen 1 video where a guy took a deadblow hammer and beat the living crap out of the carrier to get it back in....Really hoping for some clearer answers as the big video of the guy who did his seals twice on you tube does not show removal or installation of carrier or if he had to take his intermediate shaft all the way out when he just replaced the drivers side. Thanks

you should only have to slide it out a little bit so it is out of the way of the spider gears..i just did mine(dana 44) and the gears had to come out because there inner and it was a pain but not too bad

So did you just slide the intermediate up to the seal or did you slide it into the passenger seal?I keep hearing if it slides into the passenger seal or lays there on the seal that one will leak as well.

well took me 3 hours and it doesnt leak now,,,rebuilt the whole front end and still have horrible clunking noise,,,,do think its the old rancho shocks causing the noise,,,gonna check it out tomorrow and if there bad replace them and hope the noise goes away so i can get it aligned , inspected and on the street.
