Default Crank no start

I posted something earlier today bit in the wrong section so I'm re posting here I just got a 99 ram 1500 4x4 it's in decent shape the interior is spotless I bought the truck not running it sat for a year the guy said it needs a fuel pump I got it home and the pump works but there is no spark and I think the guy knew that because there is new plugs and wires when you crank it over the rpm's move so I know the crank sensor is working and the distributed is spinning the coil looks old how common is it for them to go? I'm going to mess with it more on Wednesday Any ideas?

Coils can fail easaly. Usualy they go weak but can fail all together and a stock one is cheap enough. Did the plugs look like they have been fired?

Check the plug on the coil before you replace it

I've replaced the ignition coils on both of my dodge trucks, both went out with no warning at about 150k. cheap easy fix, thank goodness, both times I was far from home.
