Default "Daisy's" build thread

so i started off with a lightly modded ram 2500

then i went with a 2.5" rough country level kit and 33" bfg rugged terrains

and now im planning on doing a 5.5" fabtech lift with 35" on stock d60 axles, does anyone have some advice for that? bc i havnt decided if i should regear or not. also she is my daily driver/ off road rig

If you are going with a 5.5" lift and running 35's you should be good with stock gears, but it would never hurt to re-gear. I only currently have a 3" lift on mine with 35's and I will eventually be going to 4.10's because I don't need the hardcore gearing of the 4.56's, but til then I am perfectly fine with running my stock gears. Now if you plan to tow a lot then the 4.56's might be a good idea. Only thing I know for sure personally that I would be dragging around would be a utility trailer with a motorcycle and some gear so the 4.10's will work perfect for my application.

Oh and very nice pics of the truck. It looks good. Also always good to see a truck being used for what a truck is designed for, other than being a work horse of course lol.

You will hear mixed reviews everywhere, even on this site. It is all in your preference. My current lift on my truck is an E-bay special, eventually though that will get swapped out for a Rough Country 5" lift and possibly bump myself up to what would basically be a 36" tire. That's more than likely when I will do my re-gearing lol. Like I said though it is all on your preference on what lift company you go with. I have looked at FabTech for a lift and for my year of truck, and though they have what looks like a well built product, it is really pricey for only 1" more of lift over the Rough Country.

do you think a 5.5 lift with 35's is going to look weird? bc ive seen some trucks with 6" lifts and 35's and the tires looked way to small, but i cant find any solid pictures to back up my research

It should look decent enough. Best thing to do is if you have access to a hydraulic lift just jack the truck up enough so you can roll a 35 up to the front tire and see how it will look when ya stand back from it. If you think ya want bigger after seeing it then go from there. That's what I did with mine, even though I had set my mind on 35's I still wanted to make sure it would look decent and still function properly. Would be amazed how much you can tell by just looking at a mock up.

well ive decided to go with just a 4" lift and 35's it should still sit high. but since the last time ive logged on i replaced my bed (the other one completely rotted out), rolled in a bed liner, painted my rockers with por 15, and added a k& cai.

and now i currently have 2.25" straight pipe from the cat with a y pipe at the end and its loud but not the super loud aggressive sound that im looking for so someone suggested looking into resonator tips, well my truck came with only one resonator tip, so i cant completely figure out what it will sound like. any suggestions or tips? i was looking into this tip bc it matches the one that came with the truck (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PSM-95-9938/)

Truck looks great man! Really like the solid color look on the 2G RAM's. If ya want loud and aggressive, I'd get rid of that y-pipe at the end, and instead of having it travel all the way to the rear of the truck have them dump right behind the cab.

thanks man she's getting there, but i have to watch out for it being to loud my neighbors constantly complain and i got pulled over going into my campus last semester and the cop wasnt really amused with my truck haha which was why someone suggested resonator tip, bc they said it would "add an aggressive deep sound with out the pain of the tickets" but idk how true that is

Got to love it when the cops decide to pick on the big trucks. I am actually going to be working on my exhaust set up again here eventually. Going to get another Flowmaster Super 40 single in dual out like I have now, but run true duals back to the mufflers and have 4 pipes hanging out the back of the truck. Definitely think it will be an original look. Just hope the headers, high flow cats and x-pipe push enough through so it sounds decent.
