Ford Apostate is on a distinguished road
Default What else do you wish they did with the 2013's?

I had pretty much decided that my next truck was going to be a 1500 Laramie Longhorn before the 2013 model was announced. I love the 2013 changes (except for stop-start, better be an option or can be disabled) and it's going to be worth waiting on to me. Even so, there are a few things I wish were on the 2013's, mostly nitpicks.

1- Electronic locking differential. I awaited the 2013 announcement hoping for and half expecting this. Ford has gone gangbusters on offering these throughout the F150 line-up and in several different axle ratios. I had hoped Ram would answer.

2- Adaptive cruise control. It seems to be a love it or hate it feature, I love it.

3- Sagebrush Pearl paint. I wanted this color and they discontinued it. I liked it a lot on the Longhorns.

4- Front view camera. If you're putting one in back, why not stick one up front? I want to get the crew cab with the long bed and being able to safely squeeze out every last inch of parking would be nice.

5- Night vision thermal camera. My wife's car came with this and it's a pretty useless on a car unless you drive out in the country with a high risk of deer or other critter collisions. That said, and I acknowledge this is pie in the sky, I would love this technology on a pickup. This thing would be so great for hunting hogs at night. I bet they would sell tons of them in the south if they could keep the price within reach.

I hate the 20" wheels with P rated tires too. Yeah, I know I shouldn't look at a luxury truck if I don't want that, but just because I want the technology and nice interior doesn't mean I want to sacrifice the truck's capability. At least make it an option, maybe an offroad package.

What things would you have liked to have seen in the 2013's?

most of the new stuff on the 2013s will be an option

except the stupid gear selector, i would have liked to see a regular shifter, something to grab on to, not something you turn

you can get any tire that you want, the factory just puts on the Badyear Wrangler P rated
they send it off to a outside vendor to get different rubber, or else the dealership does it

Before my Badyear Wranglers were even close to 30% wear, i changed to Michelins
now i am a happy camper

Good thread.

1. Front camera & parking sensors.

2. Key fob remote locking RamBox storage compartments.

3. Key fob remote locking tailgate.

4. DTRL

5. A/C seats that actually cool [not the subtle ones we now have]

6. Adaptive CC [I'm also a fan]

7. Pearl Diamond White Tricoat [paint, pearl, clear]

8. Recessed [LED] bed lights.

9. OEM spray-in bed liners standard on ALL models.

10. Intergrated air compressor.

11. LED interior lighting

12. TRUE HID lighting.

...... I'm sure more will pop in the days to come.

I plan to change the tires right away but it's really the 20" wheels that I hate having to deal with. It's just a lot of added expense if I want to swap them out for a more functional size. If I were to keep them I would also have to go to a different tire size to find some decent LT tires.

Grubrunner, from what I understand #2 and #3 on your list are included in the new 2013's.

I dunno....less is more IMO. My 2010 SLT has way too many "luxuries/options" for my liking. Just more shit to break and need fixed. I was pissed to find that you can't even get manual windows anymore...

The 8 speed is about the only thing I like.

1. option to keep the shifter on the column with new 8 speed, but I'll live
2. 8 speed/ Hemi combo available immediately
3. padded door armrests on Bighorn models
4. hoping Express gets the option to upgrade to new 8" Uconnect radio
5. And my biggest wish for the next redesign is for them to shrink the cab space in crew cab models by 2" and add that to the bed space. The current crew cab models are just huge and I think they can spare the space for more bed functionality.
