This sounds pretty crooked to me. Someone messed up in that service department and is now trying to use the customer as a means of escape. Swollen lugnuts is the same as "Blowing smoke up someones A-Hole"! I guess that means we can just throw away our spare tire because if we got a flat, we'd have to wait off the side of the road for our nuts to become less swollen! How do you like them apples?

So the medicine helped and you went right out and got a blow job? What were you thinking??? LMAO!!!

I love service writer bullshit. If you haven't talk to the manager. Have him look at your service history. Tell him you ain'ta gonna pay for their or Dodge's dumbshit. If he don't play nice... burn the phone up! There is way more salt (and Mag Chloride which corrodes even more) on the roads up here in the winter than Florida has in a decade.

I think I'd be taking a T wrench to them myself and installing the McGards or something of better quality.

I'm not sure I'd go back to that dealer. I'd have to walk in the door each time and greet this jackass with... What's up liar?

I believe what that dealership is doing, is like what they did to me
i had taken my Ram into them & told them that at highway speeds i had a tire shake that was making my arms tired after only driving 300 miles
they said that they had re-balanced the wheels & it was good to go
it was untrue, the violent shake was still there
i took it back & told them to fix it, i watched the ?TECH? drive by several times
i finally got the Ram back, still with the shake
I told the Service Writer to put someone on the job that knew how to balance wheels, not the janitor

I finally told them to yank the weights off & start from scratch
i almost saw the SW grin
because i told them to pull the weights off & start fresh
they said that i had to PAY for the new weights
it cured the problem by the way

They just didn't want the cost of the weights to come out of their pocket !!!!

18 of my 20 lugnuts were like this too. My truck is a '09 with 30k miles. ridiculous. I had to hammer a socket on then remove each lugnut from the socket in a vice.

Dodge and chrysler products have a terrible track record of the cover that goes over the lug nut swelling or stripping because people use the wrong sockets on them to start with. I see it a lot at the shop I work at

I made this mistake on two of my lugnuts on my truck. Using the wrong size socket will make the lugnut swell!! I hammered the closest size socket that could fit on there just to get them backed off then hammered the socket off before removing the nut from the stud. Whoever put your wheels on last used the wrong size socket!!

Guys, think about it. Lug nuts do NOT swell. Have you seen any other type of nut or bolt that just swoll up? No!
The wrong size socket certainly does not cause them to swell either, it will just round of the flats on the outside of the nut.
If they are stuck it is probably because someone used an impact wrench and tightened them down until they started to strip the threads, or the threads were damaged while the wheel was off.
This is an old problem that has occurred on automobiles since they had lug nuts. I've worked in a tire shop in the busiest days of the year, when the first snowflake fell and people lined up around the block to get snowtires. We had that problem then and sometimes it took a huge two man impact we kept in the back to break the lugs loose, and then we usually got additional work replacing wheel studs.
In all that time I never saw lug nuts that just swoll up. Can't happen.
I'm starting to think a couple of you might have some swollen nuts though, because someting is affecting your logic processing abilities.

I went to the dealership to get my oil changed

while i was there another Ram owner pulled up & his Ram was put on the hoist
they changed & checked his fluids while another guy rotated the tires & rims

he took off the wheel lugs with a air impact wrench
then he moved the front wheels to the back & visa versa
then he used the impact wrench to tighten the first wheel
the owner started protesting, by the time he got someones attention, all the wheels were on & they were lowering his Ram
they are only suppose to run the nuts up until they are snugged up & finish up at a lower air setting & then the torque wrench is used to check the torque

That customer was still yelling at no one, it was like everyone was wearing ear plugs
when i walked in to pay my bill

I almost laughed, i had not even goaded the customer, i was innocent, i swear !!!
The service writers don't like me talking to the customers, because they know that i am an informed customer, most of it learned right in here

I just replaced all of my lug nuts on my 2011 Ram. My Local Crappy Tire store screwed up all of my front lug nuts and i never noticed it until this past weekend when it did a tire rotation. I called my local dealer he gave me a price of $ 12.00 ea. Nut. Then he advised me that he would not even purchase the same shit that just came off the truck. He told me to call him back in about 1 hour he had another idea for me.

I called back he told me that i could get Gorilla nuts for about $ 69.00 for the whole set or i could purchase the following.

Topline Spline Wheel Nuts he gave me the entire set for $ 30.00 and tossed in the key no charge.
