They are all that way by design, because the vast majority of truck owners put a bedliner in of some type. The extra space allows for proper clearance when closing on a spray on liner.

Whatever is the excuse it looks shotty I too have gaps in my bed weld seems. But that said my cuz just picked up a new F-150 ecoboost & when he was showing me his new toy, me being anal about gaps & quality & all I gave it the once scrutinizing over! I too saw gaps in the beds weld areas especially in the floor area. It would seem as though one of a few things are going on here. Either the manufacturers are allowing for space to allow water drainage, cutting cost on welding materials or allowing greater tolerances so they can be filled in by a bed liner or to keep panels from warping. Dunno but my O.C.D. F%4#ing hates it either way.....

I have a gatorhyde spray in liner, no gap here!! I only had the truck for a few days before it was put in so i sidnt notice anything before!
