I can say I have had it in my car at -5f and it worked fine. Usually I used to run a slightly thinner oil in winter and heavier in summer. In my trans am I ran 10w30 summer and 5w30 in the winter and never had a issue at 0 to -5.

It's actually better to run synthetics (over dino oil) in the winter. They have better cold weather characteristics.

You'll find loads of threads on the subject if you do a little search.

If you're trying to figure out how long to run any oil (synthetic or dyno) it depends on many variables. Usage (i.e. towing, highway or local, off road or on road, your filter set up etc.). There is no simple answer. That's why I suggested you read through some of the MANY threads on the subject.

I would talk to Jeremiah at Discount Auto Performance on the forum about buying Amsoil. Easily the best oil on the market.

I run Mobil 1 5w-20. I change it whenever the evic tells me to. I know it might be excessive, but I get it cheap. Also use factory filters, had a problem years ago with an aftermarket one, and for me the extra cost is good insurance. One thing I do is let the oil drain overnight. Once again, excessive, but I have the ability to drain it on like a Friday night. Then fill it first thing on Saturday.

I remember my girlfriends dad would collect his friends used oil and dump his twice used oil for the once used oil and he would run his trucks over 300K before selling them for a new one. Any oil will work just fine as long as you use the recommended weight and change it at recommended intervals. All questions about oil are better answered through oil analysis.
