Default Leatherman Wave Multi tool

I had an original Leatherman that walked away somehow a few years ago. It was a great tool, but could have definitely stood some design/ergonomic improvements.

So I got the bug to find a new MT and did some research and just ordered the Leatherman Wave Gen. 2 in Black. I know the black isn't permanent, but IMO it still looks good when worn in.

Anyone have this MT? Or, anyone have the other choice I was going to get, a Victorinox swisstool?

I got the Wave because of the one hand knife opening with the intention that this will replace a pocket knife.

I hope I made the right choice, it should be here Monday

I don't personally like the MT's For me they're too cumbersome and tend to make my pants sag. Any time I need a tool I can't ever remember a MT working for me. If I took some time to look around I can probably scare up between 4 and 10 of 'em around the house. People give 'em to me and I just smile and throw it in a drawer.

I'm going to have to check in on this thread to see what exactly I must be doing wrong.

I always carry a multi tool when snowmobiling by myself... you never know when you are going to need to cut belt cords from a blown belt that are wrapped around the clutches LOL I learned this the hard way being miles away from home and no one to call... I always carry it now. My buddy has a multi tool that when un folded becomes a pair of "vise-grips", I think that is pretty sweet

Ok then so now I get it. But I have like 10 of 'em. Does that mean that I have to buy 10 sleds? In case the belt breaks? I gotta get rid of these things quick they're gettin' expensive.

I'd imagine that there are quite a few uses and they are scattered around...including inside various tool boxes and maybe one in the glove-box.

It's a big difference when you get a top quality tool. The cheap $40 ones have garbage blade strength and are a PITA to use. A tip with carrying a MT: get a belt holder, you won't have pant sag with one, unless you don't wear a belt or have pants around your thighs like too many kids these days.

They are issued with our kit for our Urban Search and Rescue team. We have the Wave and I have used it a bit. The one I have personally is nice and simple.

I have a few good quality MT's. My favorites are -
SOG - Powerplier
Leatherman - Wave
I usually have the SOG with me and the Wave close by. The Wave has very nice tips on the needle nose pliers and I like having access to the knife and saw without opening the tool. The SOG is just plain great and the nicest for one handed operation.

I always have my Wave on my belt, ALWAYS. I use it every single day for something. Once U carry one U will not ever go without it. I have broken several multitools and Leatherman always will send U a new one free of charge.

I carried a Letherman for years when I in the Coast Guard and when I was working construction. They're good tools, but then I discovered the Gerber MT. I can't remember the model, but it was superior to the Leatherman. I especially liked the slide out pliers, as opposed the flip and open style on the Leatherman. If I remember correctly it also had a blade that was similar to most mid sized pocket knifes in size.

I know there are a few that would be considered 'top shelf' and at some point it comes down to a detail or two in personal preference.

that one Shawnc13 posted pictures of is awesome looking!!

I think Ill be happy with the Wave, I wanted it mainly for times when my son and I are out riding dirt bikes and for hiking/camping but I think I'll just keep it on my regularly
