Default Vacuum line broken

Recently I noticed my dash vents did not blow air when the air conditioning was on. I went to replace the check valve and the vacuum line that runs into the firewall just broke apart in my hand. Can someone please tell me where this vacuum line goes, and do I need to tear apart my dash to replace it.

For anyone that's interested, you don't have to go to all the trouble of tearing you dash apart to replace this vacuum line. I fixed the problem by placing a piece of 1/8 heat-shrink over the broken vacuum line. I pushed the two pieces together so there was no gap, then heated the heat shrink and that was it. Dash vents and floor vents work great, and you don't have to rip your dash out to fix it.
