Default Do 09+ F-150 really get better MPG than Hemi 1500?

Don't get me wrong. I still bought my 2011 Dodge ram 1500 Longhorn over F150.

But a lot of Ford sales kept telling me how F-150's (just regular V8 no ecoboost) are better on MPG than Dodge ram 1500. At the same time, a lot of people keep saying how Dodge Ram 1500 is hard on gas..??

I mean it's a truck so of course it's not going to be nice on MPG but does Ram have the worst MPG among trucks or what?

Default Mpg!

I have the 2012 Hemi express and I am averaging 17.8 city/rural without using the MDS system!

The Ram 1500s do get slightly worse mileage compared to the F150s. I used to drive both for work and I pushed them hard and cruised casually too. The new 5.0L is slightly worse for mileage compared to the MDS hemi, but the ecoboost kills both if you're not towing/hauling anything. The GMs actually get the worst out of them all, but they have a very comfortable ride but too many gadgets for me.

Is this MDS equipped on every 09+ ram or is this an option? I start wondering if my Dodge even has this...

Hemi's make more horsepower. ford exaggerates thier fuel economy big time and most ford guys that I know exaggerate them too... I work with a guy that claims 30 mpg from his eco burst...

Well what do you think about that? A Ford salesman trying to find something positive over our Rams. Hmmm....So a 5.0L V8 gets better gas mileage than a 5.7L Hemi V8. Now is he comparing identical options such as both with 3.55 rear ends and 265/70-17's or is he saying this to just make a sale; duhhhh......And comparing a V6 turbo F150 should be compared to our Straight 6 turbo Cummins. Oh I'm sorry, that's probably not fair either, my bad. Anything to bust our chops. Even if an F150 made 1-2 mpg better fuel economy, woopdey doo! I love telling my neighbors why I bought my Ram over a Chevy or a Ford. I told them it takes a rebel, an outlaw, a redheaded stepchild, a person not afraid of the Darkside to drive a RAM. I like swimming against the current; doing something when another tells you, "You can't". Whats even more funny is watching all the Ford and Chevy owners on my block check my Ram out as they drive by. Puts a big smile on my face everytime. I smile back, knod the head, and with my teeth still together, I say, "Yeah, suck on this!" HA HA!

I don't think that the F150 with any of their standard engines can touch my 3.55 geared Ram getting 25mpg highway!
