Default Aux Port Failure/Replacement

Hey Fellow Dodge Brothers,

The auxiliary audio input on my 2009 Ram Laramie is completely dead. The dealership has told me the only way to fix it is by replacing the entire in dash unit which would cost me over $1000! Does anyone have a more wallet friendly solution that I could pursue. I'd rather be able to leave everything in its current cosmetic state. I'm not very big on cutting holes in my baby.

Thanks,
Josh

What radio do you have? I replace mine with a RHR, and might be willing to part with the original.

You can get a nice aftermarket screen with a install kit and I don't think it requires cutting. We had a 10 ram sport with a nice pioneer unit. I like alpine myself but with me it depends on how food of and eq it has. My last eclipse looked factory in my trailblazer and lasted for 6 years and still worked great when I traded it. If you don't need nav you can probably get a nice aftermarket for $600 or so installed and they have adapters so you can keep the wheel controls

You might want to pick up on the unit Astro has. Other than that, try www.crutchfield.com as they deal in all things auto electronic +.

There are aux input adapters on the market that work fairly well. I added one to the wife's Charger. It plugs inline with your antennae and also has an input plug for a standard head phone style plug.

You then tune your FM radio to a preset station and you're able to hear your music without any interruptions or static.

I think I picked mine up at either Best Buy or Wally World for about $20-$30 and it took me about 45 minutes to install (most of that was disassembly and reassembly of the dash
