Default No more blindness

Finally got fed up with the intermittent blinding flash or continuous glare on the highway from the chrome trim ring around the shifter console. Gave it some sanding with #150 sandpaper and then 2 coats of Krylon textured black paint. Looks much better and no more blindness!

Nice job man. Lots of people have been complaining about that "chrome" trim.

Nice job!
Funny I've only been blinded by my ring once in the year and a half I've had the truck.

We get some brutally sunny days here in Florida. Most of my highway driving is north-south and at certain times of day the sun will just sit there reflecting off the ring and right into your eyes. I liked the look of the chrome, but just got tired of the occasional blinding.

My Magnum used to get me all the time. Now the Ram does. It is on the list of stuff to do... maybe this afternoon.

Nice job!

Too late now and doesn't really matter, but in the future you could use Plastic Dip so that it could be returned to chrome later. I'm sure the paint is more durable though

Yeah, I chose to sand and paint because stuff gets dragged across the console all the time and I wanted a durable finish.

WOW! I took pics yesterday and was going to post this over at DT to see if this annoyed anyone else also. This drives me CRAZY!!

I also do not like all the glare in the truck. I get reflection of the ENTIRE DASH CLUSTER on my drivers side window at night, and during the day, with the Alpine 9.1 surround system, I get that stupid Chrome Alpine logo on the dash, reflecting in the middle halfway up the windshield. Thats so annoying too

I fixed that, too. I had a 6" strip of tint applied to the top of my windshield. You can see it in this pic.

It blocks just enough sun to make seeing the dash and reading the EVIC no longer an exercise in head angling. The same tint shop that did my front windows did this and I highly recommend it. I drove my cousin's 2011 recently without it and couldn't believe what a difference it makes. Could not even see the EVIC in his truck because of the glare.
