Default Alarm help

Ok so i lost my keys to my truck which had the only key fob on them. I've already unlocked my truck with the spare key an unhooked the battery to shut the alarm off. Now I'm trying to figure out if I have an aftermarket alarm or not. Under the switch for my headlights is a small rectangle box with a red light on top an a button on the front. Does anyone know if that's how the 99 ram came with its alarm or is that aftermarket. Also how do I found out who made it if it's aftermarket.

I suspect it is aftermarket, look on the box the manufaturer may have label or molded there name into it. post a picture someone may be able to identify by the pic.

A lot of time if you look under driver side knee bulster an aftermarket alarm box will be atatched to steering colum its the most solid part of car and works the best for vibratin sensor. If you don't see the black box there its prob factory. And that's controled by body modual. If it is after market there some times will be a button somewhere for valet mode that will disable alarm till you can replace the fob. Now if its factoy I have no clue.

Ok so I took a picture of the two horns together also one of my red indicator light. If I can figure out how to post them I will. Also I could not find a black box under my steering column. I also took both horn out an they are both made by Bosch. For the mean time I just unhooked the negative battery cable do I can get in the truck

I also can't find the box if it is an aftermarket alarm. Are there any other places to look

The box would be tied into the column down near the floor. You should see 3-5 yellow plugs spliced into the factory wiring

On the after-market alarms I have good luck unplugging the 2 or 3 plugs in the harness and leaving them that way, those are the trigger wires. The larger wires, usually red, purpish, yellow, or orange you can just leave alone and plugged in.

Try unplugging the small wires from the factory wires. Just make 'em in case you have to put 'em back.

they're usually behind the knee bolster:

After-market alarms usually have connectors like this. The tiny wires are the trigger wires:

By unplugging them you're disconnecting the alarm but the original wiring is still in place and should work as if there was never an alarm

I haven't tried to hit the button yet, I'm guessing it's the valet switch though. Also I'm pretty sure it's aftermarket because I found my key fob online an it was an omega so I'm guessing the alarm is too. I will have to take the panel out under the steering wheel an see if the modular box is there. If its there an I unhook those yellow wires will that disarm the whole system
