Default Re-Gearing

I have a 2010 ram with the V8 4.7 L on a 5" lift with 35" tires. Is the Lift and tires hard on this smaller engine? I have the stock gears and was thinking of re-gearing it, but do not know what to switch to or if it would even help. Any suggestions on what I should do?

What is your stock ratio? You will get by but man oh man it is going to be a strain getting up to speed.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is a bit of a strain getting up to speed, but it does not drive too bad other than that. I am not sure on what the stock ratio is, what would you recommend I get and how much does this usually cost? I do quite a bit of highway driving and have been getting about 16 or 17. In town is pretty brutal though. Also do I have to buy a tuner to get my tires calculated in, my speedometer is about 10% off?

You likely have 3.55's. The 4.10's should be about right, maybe 3.96's if you don't tow.

After finding out my 09 hemi came with 3.21's I just dropped it off today for 3.92's or whatever dodge used. I am only running 305/55/20's and it felt to slow especially when towing. I would look into a 4.10 with 35's maybe a better match.

The 3.92 will be a great choice for a 33" tall tire. Be sure to break-in the new gears properly. I have 33" tire with 3.92 and it pulls my 8000lbs car hauler like a dream and gets 20 mpg hwy unloaded.

I'd get 4.56 gears to turn those 35s.

I used a guy based in Chandler to do my gear changes (4.10's, 4.88's and my current 4.56's) and from what i remember it was around $300 but dont quote me. He has does quite a few 9.25 corp rear differentials so he is very familiar in the process (Each install turn around time was about 4 hours.

He is also mobile so he can come to any location or to the comfort of your own home. (2 of the 3 installs was done at my house in SW Tucson)
His name is TJ and his number is 480-751-8065
Very cool guy.
A Programmer can take care adjusting your speedometer per entering your tire metrics.

Easy way to get your factory ratio is to request a build sheet per your VIN.
Here is the link where you can request the build sheet. From other members responses the turn around sounds quick.

Like said above, with 35" tires, 5" lift, and a 4.7L I'd go with 4.56's. 4.10's at a minimum. Maybe even 4.88's but if you do a lot of highway probably not.

If you have 3.55's with 35" tires your probably at like 1500 rpm at 70mph, really lugging.

Stock is ~31" tires with 3.55 gearing(assuming the gearing). This is basically equal to ~35" tires with 4.10 gearing.
