Default lost a good friend this weekend..

His name is Bronson he was a 10 1/2 year old rotti. I very layed back happy go lucky dog. My parents said he died suddenly without warning on Friday back home, I am 2500 kms away working since may. This hasnt been the first dog I have had to go but man it doesnt seem any easier each time... He stayed with my parents during the summers and came to live with me in the winters when they left the country. I would like another rotti but they are just too darn big for where I live (900 sq. ft house and a small yard) and I plan to live here for a few more years. I am thinking maybe this fall I will get another dog as a puppy, I like the Boston Terriers, they look to be a good size for my house and yard and are pretty friendly. Eventually when I have the room I will have another rotti, they are just amazing dogs!

Pictures of Bronson from this past winter in my garage
dont mind the funky fan set up, apparently no where sells fans in the winter so I had to make due with my sisters hahah

Very nice looking dog, sorry to hear he passed. I don't think that ever gets easier, they really are family but hopefully you will have another one some day.

I'm sorry to hear that Dan.

Rotties are my choice of K9's and I've had a few. When my last one passed (Nikita/Nikki) she was 13 years old. About half way through her life she developed Lymes disease and couldn't walk. She was highly intelligent, protective and loyal.

I wound up making a sling out of an old army cot and hung it from a line in the yard with a pulley. She remained house trained and learned quickly it was to help her retain some dignity.

The Vet offered to put her down (throughout the injections and treatment) and most of my friends said I was cruel for letting her live. They didn't realize how much work it was to move around 140 lbs of dead weight.

About six months into the ordeal I got home from work and she met me at the door, and lived a normal life for the next 6/7 years.

When she did pass of natural causes I lined a cake pan with plastic wrap, filled it with cement and embedded her stainless steel food and water bowls with her name in them in it. Wrote her name, birthday and passing in it.

All the squirrels, chipmunks, and other animals around the property (she used to yell at) visited her on a daily basis to get a drink from her bowls.

great story Drew, that is amazing that you made the sling and had it on a line so she could walk!! they are deffinetly very intelligent, loyal and very protective. I wish I had the room for another one but I dont right now, I need to get a smaller dog until I have a bigger property

Sorry to hear about Bronson. We had some great discussions this past winter about him.

Default Your Loss!

So sorry guy! I know that are family to us, and it does not make it any easier. I just lost my Belgian Shepard last October after 13 years and 10 great months. He was my buddy! So once again so sorry.

Really hate to hear that. Sorry for your loss. My wife and I lost our first dog we had together about 2 years back. He was a great black lab mix named Harley. He developed prostate cancer even though he was neutered at the correct age. It was so awful watching him go from 88 lbs. to around 35. He still seemed happy though, and even though it was a struggle for him (and us) he went through chemo and seemed to get better for awhile but it was too much in the end, and when he had trouble going down the stairs of the deck to go outside, and lost his appetite, we knew it was time. That's the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life, making the decision to end my friends life. But in time, the hurt goes away and all you have are great memories of a good friend!
