Default Burned up four wheel drive line?

One day I was looking at my shock behind my wheel well and well I noticed a burned up line coming from the axle, If I am correct, is this line something for the four wheel drive? And I am trying to decipher what the means as to why in the heck it burned up and corrioded? The only think I can think of is the valve cover gasket had a major leak or something up there and it dripped down the frame and was hot, but I do not know as I just bought this truck a few months ago and have no clue on the history. The four wheel drive "light" on my dash takes forever to go away after I shift from 4 wheel back to 2 wheel drive, could this hose being burnt be a link to that problem? Thanks in advance! : )

It appears to be the vent from the front differential. They have been run next to the exhaust manifold.

Okay thank you, that doesn't make sense why they are running it next to something that gets hot...
