Default New Magnaflow!!! 14" Quiet Though?

Hey Been awhile since i have been on here just got a new mod done

Y-Pipe got changed out, 2.5 to 3 inch, into a new 14" magnaflow s.s 3" in 2.5" dual out wiht new stainless 4" in tips, Looks really good and i am very happy with it, the tips are in the exact same spot so may have to take it back and get that straightened out got them coming out at 45 degree angles behind the rear tires

But here is the question i had a flowmaster 50 serie H.D in the truck before and it was pretty quiet

Now i went to the 14" Magnaflow and it really isnt much louder?? i was expecting to have a way louder exhaust, what gives?

I also heard that they take a while to break in is this true?

I want that low rumble at idle, had a tahoe in the shop a week ago it had a 22" magnaflow 3" in and 3" out and it rumble good at idle and when you got on it? Just curious as to why mine sounds so tame?

I dont want to get another flowmaster but the 40 series almost sounds closer to the loudness i want, but the magnaflow has a better quality sound just no as loud

Thanks for any help guys

Well first off if you are used to flowmaster the magnaflow will always sound quiet to you. I had flowmaster on every vehicle I have had and when I went with my 14 magnaflow I was shocked at how quiet it was. It will break in and get louder but not LOUD. You can hear mine at idle and when on the trottle but it's never loud. Just a deep rumble maybe.

Ya maybe im just chasing a sound that i want but can't get from it, the 50 series flow was pretty quiet, would like to see how a 40 series would sound, probably alot louder but not as good quality!

the magnaflow is more of a muscular tone while the flow is just loud and sounds worse under hard acceleration. the magnaflow will get louder over time but you might want to consider a cutout at some point to get the best of both worlds..

Do you still have your resonator(s) on? I had the same issue with my mangnaflow, I was not happy that it was so quiet. Removing the resonator made it considerably louder.

Had the 18" MagnaFlow installed today. Gave it a real nice tone without that cab noise. Run some 18 hr trips and do not want a lot of can noise.

Nope i have custom from the y-pipe back now, just have the two cats in after the headers and thats it.

Yes i do like the sound of the magnaflow way more then the flowmaster, i wouldnt ever go back to the flowmaster after hearing this one
after the muffler its just 2.5" pipe all the way to the tips!

How long does it usually take for them to "break in" and get a little louder?

I think about 700 miles mine stopped changing tones. I still have my resonators but I want to remove them if it will make my truck sound better.
