Default 2012 navigation updates for 2011

I have a 2011 crew cab and completed the up date with the disk. I am wondering if there is an update available for the navigation to show new roads, etc., etc. for 2012.

Any help appreciated!

No! and you may insert an adjective of your choice before the word no.! LOL Thanks for the help. I visited the link you posted............ the nerve of some electronic data to even ask for that kind of money.

Maybe if we all chip in ten each and do it that way. NO! I am sure someone would fail to pass it along.

thanks again!

I think that is why they price it so steep.

They are assuming that there will be a certain percentage of "second hand users" accessing it.

I'm waiting a few years before I take that pill.

It damn sure aint worth the $150 bucks. My nav said it needed to be updated the other day so I looked it up. I might have paid as much as $40-50, but surely not the 150. If its that important it will be on my stupid "smart" phone...lol..

Navteq hires a company to find the new roads
Then they put the maps onto a grid & it becomes software

Garmin gets the raw data from Navteq & makes their own grid & software

This process takes at least 3 years

I asked about updating my mapping software after i had my 2008 September built 2009 Ram for a good 2 years
I was told that it would not really do much for me & that i should wait

I waited until year 3 & i paid for the Mapping update, $179 total w/ tax & shipping
I was irritated, l knew of at least 3 new highways & a couple highway extentions that were not on the new mapping, & that was just in San Diego county alone

The package did have a second CD in the package, it was an RER 730N ONLY radio update, it made my radio work much better, especially the Uconnect part

Use your smart phone or a Garmin NUVI LMT hand held for your mapping needs
you will only pay ONE time for your maps. Unlike the Ram radio updates that you have to RENEW every few years at a cost of $179 each time

I just had a 2012 Laramie built and had them install the non-Nav radio (RBZ) in it for this very reason... The radio is the same in every way, besides the navigation and it saved me $975 on the build. I have a voice controlled Garmin with lifetime map updates that I paid $180 for. It is absolutely rediculous to pay that amount of money for a GPS that will be obsolete in a short time and require that much money to update. I had one in my Grand Cherokee and Magnum before that, both became useless and I ended up using a Garmin. No reason why car manufacturers can't offer lifetime map updates for the amount of money they charge for built in GPS, IMO.
