if 5W-20 is difficult to get over there
you could run the 10W-30 & it will lubricate the engine itself properly
if it gets real cold in the colder months over there, then use the 5W-30 or 0W-30

remember the first number & letter are only for cold weather starting
the W stands for WINTER
the number before it like a 0 or 5, or 10, 20, etc. Are the tested results for cold starting temperatures.
Before they had the new oil testing system, we would buy oil buy only the SAE value. SAE 30, SAE 40, SAE 50, etc

the issue is only with the MDS functioning as it should
if you use the slightly heavier oil, it MAY cause an issue & trip a sensor that turns on a check engine light . If it doesn't turn the light on, everything will work just fine.
If the light should come on, things like your Remote Start when using the key FOB, won't work, so if you don't have remote start, it won't matter much. You will just have that light on all the time.

This would be an option.I don't have family in the US and I need to find some good willing friends...
As for information, RAM trucks are not officially imported in Europe by the Chrysler Group. My truck has been imported and all the paper work and other little mods (like turn signals that must be orange and not red !!!!!) have been executed by a specialized company here in France.
Not officially imported means also that there is no OEM warranty anymore! Because there is no official distribution network.
Any issue on the truck will cost me money. I'm lying a bit because I took a special insurance covering that. Approx. 1,700$ for a 2 year all included warranty.
Coming back to the oil grade, it's really a pain in the ... as I can't find 5W20 for an acceptable price.
Would be great to hear that somebody has made a good experience with 5W30, meaning the MDS is still working and there is engine default light going on!

My experience was I had an oil change at the dealers after about a thousand miles the oil change light came on I thought that was a bit strange so I checked my receipt it had 5w-30 on it went back to the dealer and they changed the oil I had no proof if the oil put in was w5-30 miswrote on the ticket or actually was w5-30 as the MDS did function.I would try the 5w-30 if that is easier for the summer months for maybe 3,000 KL and see the engines reaction and maybe when it get colder you would have found a source for the w5-20.
