Question Bull Bar strong enough for towing???

After buying my truck I realized that the Sport edition does not have tow hooks. I know it wouldn't be to difficult to install tow hooks to the front but I was thinking a bull bar would look better. Only problem is that I don't know if they are strong enough to be pulled on? If I needed to get pulled out of a snowbank or some mud, would a bull bar be a strong enough point to pull from?

Someone can correct me but if the fixture place is the same as the tow hooks and the strap is placed at the lowest point I can't see why not?

it depends on which bull bar you're talking about (some aren't even available for the ram sport models). from the ones i've seen most do not have strong enough brackets to support the truck being pulled with.
a bull bar that doubles as a winch mount, again, if available, would be strong enough to pull from.

I was looking at one of those horseshoe shaped ones and ya from the pictures I can't tell if it would be strong enough. I dont want one of those massive ones that replaces my whole front bumper. I was just looking for a cooler alternative to tow hooks.... I live in Northern Saskatchewan at the moment so I would feel a lot better having something that I could be pulled with on the front as the roads suck and its a long way between towns

bulldog front push bars are pretty thin material and hollow,,wouldn't trust it unless you absolutely had no other option

It really depends on the bar and its attachment to the frame. 95% of the one's I see are NOT sufficient for use as a pulling point.

You are better off with the tow hooks than a cheap bull bar.

I have yet to see one on a ram truck I would pull with.

Thanks for the help guys! Any ideas on alternatives? Because I still like the look of the bar out front, but I dont want to go for the massive full bumpers. Maybe I can get a bracket for underneath or something....

If you are planning on putting a Bull Bar on a sport you are going to have to do a little cutting, take my advice, do the cutting and install tow hooks, took me longer to pop out the little valance on the bumper than it did to install the hooks, and the bull bar is for the most part, thin walled tubing, you will bend that so fast

On a scale of 1 to 10, this mod is about a 3
