I dont get it either, unless your a cop you cant really run plates and look up any info and even if you could would you look up people in different cities? even different countries?

I have posted pictures of friends vehicles and covered the plates just because they arent mine so to respect any of their privacy I do but on my own truck I dont, if you want it come get I will tell you where the keys are... I will get a new one quicker this way lol

Thanks friend, I just was curious and was hoping to get some input from those that cover them. I am not seeing any reasons yet from those that cover up.

I cover mine up
I figure if I post a pic of my license plate online then someone could track it, and somehow that will lead to my identity being stolen. If it can actually lead to that, shit if I know
but I've recently had my identity stolen so now I'm taking every precaution I can
But at the end of the day it makes me feel better

Thats all that matters, is if it makes ya feel better. I have wondered how far people will go to safeguard their identity. This may be an example, I suppose it does make sense on here or other forums. If you accidently give any personal info like name, address and then they get a plate number and go from there, they could steal yuor identity with enough info. Me personally, I would stand behind ya at the customer service at any dept store, cause they love to make you give all kinds of info in order to prove who you are. It never fails someone asks me for my SS#, I say give me a piece of paper I will write it down for you. Then again, they now have a piece of electronics that can scan your card in your wallet right in your pocket. Sooooo. Where do we stop, Ill tell ya, Hang em from a public yardarm

Yep yep
Now all my online purchases are made through PayPal...if I wanna buy something online and they don't accept PayPal, I don't get it
I don't use my debit card in any stores anymore, only cash
No checks
Once you've had your identity stolen you take a step back and think about where and how your putting all your information out there
This is just one of those things you know

Sometimes I cover it for pics/videos, sometimes I don't. I know of cops in my area who go on social networking sites such as facebook to look at people's information and/or what they are up to. I have covered my plate in youtube vids and such because if I am doing something stupid such as a burnout, I don't want it comming back to me for some ridiculous reason such as looking it up online. I know of instances of people calling in plate #s they have seen on youtube just to be dicks.
