Default 5.7 on E85??

Anyone out there install an E85 conversion on the new 5.7 Hemi? I found a website where a company out of Chicago has a kit on a 5.7 Charger, made over 30HP more to the tires, no other mods.

I'm thinking about doing a custom exh, CAI, T-stat, fan mod, and then get the e85 conversion kit from the same company that has the e85 converted charger. Can't go wrong with 103-105 octane, $2.60 a gallon too.. I spoke with the company rep, said it would not void my factory warranty, and does allow for use of regular gas if I'm somewhere I can't get e85.

Post up if you have converted your 5.7, i would like to get some real feedback!

No idea on that....looks like you could be onto something....expect the milage to go down a good chunk though, one of the details about E85. Might need a good custom tune as well to run to the full potential. Keep us updated!!

Like 916timmy said your mileage will definitely decrease but it makes great power plus your Ram will smell like popcorn, who doesn't like popcorn lol..I have a good friend from Texas and he is currently making 600+ AWHP in a 93 Eclipse, it's safer to tune from what he told me, overall E85 is amazing but not a lot of gas stations carry it. I would love to hear how this goes though, if you go through with it

Here in Wisconsin, E85 is available everywhere. Talking with the company rep, he states that the mileage will not go down as bad as it is assumed it would. This kit has a brain box, alcohol sensors, fuel lines, piggy back injector plug in's, and a plate that goes somewhere in between the air intake and tb. This kit is EPA approved, and does qualify for the alternative fuel tax credit. I'm going to take my truck to him in Chicago, have it installed, mapped, and dyno tuned. It will run about $1200, but i will get the tax credit at the end of the year. I also asked him if I were to put custom exhaust, cai, and used a handheld tuner would effect the e85 system, he said it would work fine. He did say that it would be better to do the exhaust and cai before bringing it to him, as it would change the map. I'm going to do it, just waiting on my taxes to come back. I will keep you all posted on how everything plays out.

Gasoline is for washing parts, alcohol is for drinking - nitromethane is for racing! Just sayin...

well if you all dont know this then here is the low down on e85. it takes 30% more fuel in your maps to run it and yes your mileage will go to shit. your using 30% more fuel. Unless your running big power and need the cooling effects of running 110 octane or need to keep the detonation away this is a waste of time. 30 hp for 1200$ and you will never even feel it. the cost of fuel will not change on average between this and gas over the long run.

I would talk with dodge on the warrant part, I bet it will deff void your warranty as you have tampered with a lot of parts, also you will need to use a different oil that can handle the acidity from the by product that will get passed your rings. Conversion kits are just that conversion.

Sounds like a pretty interesting mod to do to the truck. I know around me their is NO E85. Canada is a little behind with everything...it seems like they wait to see how everything goes and then adopt the idea. You can get it as an option like everywhere else but it seems pointless since you cant buy it haha
