That 392 truck sounded no different from the 345. I wonder what numbers it put down?

I know you aren't asking but I think you'd come out better building your current setup. The Eagle heads already flow awesome. Go all forged and stroke your 5.7 to whatever then add F/I. You can adjust the boost to come out at whatever hp level you want. $10k just for a longblock is a lot of $$.

With built bottom ends, these 5.7L blocks can hold some serious boost compared to the 6.1L, and it's becoming a popular base for some of the boosted resto-mod guys out there for that very reason. I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can push the boost in my built block, starting with 12psi to get it all up and running. While bigger displacement is always a good thing, forcing more air in will give you a higher efficiency than N/A can, and it won't sacrifice drivability like having a huge stroke/big cam.

That 392 is not my truck. But mine does have a crate motor 392 installed with JBA headers and an 87mm TB. And I did reuse the 5.7L manifold, timing cover and oil pan for fitment reasons. Although we swapped the 392 injectors over along with my 180 thermostat.

The result- Stealth stock look with an angry as hell sound. This is the motor that should have been in our trucks from the get go. Power everywhere and instant throttle response. Is it Mike's twin turbo beast? No. But she puts a smile on my face every day.

I'll start a separate post here shortly to detail the swap and thanks to Mike at L&M for taking the time to do this for me.

Thanks for sharing. Those numbers are very impressive. I wonder how much HP the stock tranny would hold if you had a digital boost controller to limit HP in the lower gears.

Turbos generally build higher boost in the higher gears, which is where the most stress on the transmission is going to be. Superchargers need to have the boost limited in lower gears to protect the transmission, but turbochargers do this naturally.
