Im just speaking the truth with well known facts that everyone should know by now. Pre vvt motors are just better and the timeslips prove it... Im not saying that you can't make a VVT motor fast i just think your money is much better spent by swapping to the the pre vvt block and it will be easier to acheive your goals. Either way im looking forward to seeing this sucker fly!!

Why do you think that is? Less rotational mass or the ability to run a more aggressive cam profile?

I just re-read my own post and I'm such an ass. My new motor is non-MDS, not non-VVT. Sheez.......

Right now it is due to the cam phaser and tuning, those are the limiting factors of the VVT motor. I want to see someone who has actually successfully installed a very agressive cam on a RAM with a vvt motor and made insane power off it? And if so what cam and who tuned it?

Oh and the rediculous prices of these comp cams that can be installed with a cam phaser limiter are a whole other reason why no one has tried to install them. Your looking at like $3000 in a cam install once your done! No thank you...

When I spoke with Stu at Inertia, he advised me that to date any cams on a VVT Ram have more often than not produced less useable horsepower.

Oh well you dont plan on doing much more to your motor anyways right? Are you sure its VVT?? Is the block a vvt block? One way to know for sure is if you reused your timing set, cam phaser, cam, cam tensioner??? To bad its not as simple as just buying all of these components for say a 6.1 motor and just bolting to ours to get rid of vvt all together only if.... Sadly the blocks are machined different and none of the bolt holes line up for the timing set

I'm pretty much done I think but it wouldn't be cams regardless. Dollar for dollar, I'd just have Mike do up a single turbo for me and call it a day. And yes, I have a VVT block as it's actually a 2012 Challenger motor.

This is what i keep telling folks and i just cant get through to them... And is why im trying to make it clear to anyone tring to do some fairly extreme stuff to one of these VVT motors. Is take my advice or do your own research before you buy. Or try to figure out a solution other than boost, cuz i went to the end of the line on my motor and now im paying for it because i cant install an agressive enough cam because of VVT...

I could boost the hell out of my motor but why? I would need another $10k to install a built T-56 or 4L80 to hold up to it...

Im interested to see how MGH's transmission holds up to the abuse with the direction this build is going too. I hope it holds and if not i hope that MGH can find a way to figure out why it failed and make it even better than before. To help further his business and make a name for himself so he can start mass producing these suckers

Consider this a challenge accepted. I just authorized Mike to investigate an aggressive VVT cam in my stock 392 along with the phaser and whatever else is necessary. Bottom line is it has to make power or else I'm staying stock.
