Default radio changes on its own

i think i originally posted this in the wrong place:

new to the forum...and new to doge. decided to try a dodge 1500 2010 out this time around after mostly fords. i haven't had it a few weeks and several times a day the radio will automatically change to a static station. it usually happens shortly after starting the truck. i have been unsuccessful with finding a good thread on this. i am not accidentally bumping the button behind the steering wheel. it is clean and it does it without Mr even touching the wheel. anyone a good resource on this?

I think you did too...but i replied any way...here's my re-post

New to Dodge myself but not new to electronics or electrical systems. I'm not sure if this would be "just" a dodge problem but i have seen cars with radio controls on the steering wheel have problems due to dirt and oils from your hands getting into those buttons and causing them to stick. That might be one explanation. As far as cleaning it goes...disconnect the battery and try a little alcohol on a cotton swab and clean around the buttons the best you can. Push the button continually while cleaning it to make sure it gets into the crevices good enough and allow it to dry before reconnecting the battery and take it for a test drive.

What radio do you have ? I know with the Mygigs that some of the earlier ones had problems like you described and there was a software fix. I had a similar problem with a Mygig unit in a 2009 300 and a software update did fix the problem.

The Mygig's all have the touch screen and some have the added nav feature. For the other radios I do not believe there is any software involved that I have heard. That does not mean there isn't so I would certainly inquire with the dealer. So looks like you are back to a possible issue with the steering wheel controls.
