Default Nav update

Has anybody received a message concerning an update? 2011 R/T. Don't know if you need a disk or can it be downloaded and burnt on a disk from the internet. Thanks in advance Curly

Yes I received the same message a week or 2 ago. Looked into it and It is going to cost either $149 or $179 for the update.(can't remember the price?). Also read about this in another thread and was on the understanding thats is soooooo not worth the update, besides thats a lot to spend just for some added roads and POI, if you have a smartphone and the roads dont show up on your Garmin, use your phone.. just my 2 cents..

Curly if it is the Nav maps that you are considering
first you need to know which radio you have

I would guess that it is either a RHR or RHB
letters are found on the lower right face of the radio

RHR is also called the 730N RHR, i believe it uses a NAVTEQ mapping system
RHB is also called the 430N RHB, i believe it uses a GARMIN mapping system

which ever radio you have, you need to ask what year the upgrade CD was made

it may be the exact maps that you already have
they recommend that you wait 3 years to upgrade, if they are at all HONEST about it

Personally, i bought a GARMIN NUVI handheld with the LIFETIME MAPS & TRAFFIC, once you pay for the unit, you can go online & download new maps for FREE & for the life of the unit.
NUVIs have a number & then letters/ like 1350 LMT, you would want those 3 letters (LMT) after the numbers
the have different size screens & some have VOICE commands

Smart Phones also have APPS for mapping & traffic
if you have one of those, it may even be a better way to go
