Default Bent Tie Rods

Hey guys and gals. Havent posted much lately, but been out doing a lot of wheeling here locally. Tonight though I failed to come out unscaved. Bent Tie rod and drag link after coming out of a new mud hole was trying out. I was wondering if the 3/4 or 1 ton trucks had heavier duty tie rods and drag links and would bot up pretty simply, or If I was going to have to build a set out of tubing and heim joints if I wanted stronger ones. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Sport.

Oh and another casulty of tonight is possibly the throw out bearing. Not positive on that one yet though. Gonna see if I can get something like brake cleaner or what not sprayed up in there and clean it out.

Replace with heim joints and Chromo tubing. Do the entire steering setup this way up to the pitman arm.

Anything else is really just a bandaid.

Good idea. kinda figured that was the answer I was going to get. The only problem is with the way the knuckles on the front axles are on these trucks, without changing them, you cant covert them to a cross over steering setup. So how are you supposed to connect the tie rod to the drag link?

With a 98, you should be able to pull the D60s off a wrecking yard 2500 and bolt them right up. Why not fix it all in one fell swoop!

Because if Im swapping axles, Im going with axles from a Ford that have the high pinion and manual hubs, with no central axle disconnect.
