From what i understand there is no dipstick for any of the ZF 8 speed transmissions
I have wondered if they have a small plug, similar to what the rear differential has

I found the Park/Neutral release interesting

Those parts are so flimsy, how would anyone trust the Automated Car Wash attendants to perform the correct procedure ??

Very good read, SixFive. Thanks for posting.

First I saw of a vehicle w/o trans dipstick was my wife's '06 Nissan Pathfinder.

Ok I guess no dip stick. Then there's no way to check tranny fluid?

No stick. As I understand it, after a major overhaul, etc, Level is checked at a certain temp via a plug on the tranny case.

The ATF level is not intended to be checked by the owner,,, ever. Not required as a part of any normal service as well.

Wifes 11 Mustang was the same in regards to 'no stick / no check / ever'. (She just traded it for an Edge. I haven't looked just yet, but I assume the Edge will be the same,,, no stick, no service required)

It does seem 'odd' as it goes against everything we've been taught before, but,,, oh well...

(Now, if I could just find that pesky power steering reservoir,,, )
