Default Gas light?

Anybody know how much fuel our hemis have after the light comes on? I would guess 1 gallon, possibly 2.

Should say in your 2011 manual.

From my 04
Low Fuel Warning Light
Glows when the pointer is between “E” and 1/8
indication mark (approximately 15% of tank vol-
ume) on the fuel gauge. When the fuel gauge
pointer is on “E” (equivalent to Distance To Empty [DTE]
= 0 on the overhead console if so equipped) there is
reserve fuel capacity, which corresponds to approxi-
mately 8% of tank volume. This reserve capacity was put
in place to prevent the likelihood of customers running
out of fuel when operating at maximum load conditions
in areas where there aren’t many gas stations.
Ram fuel tank volumes are as follows:
² 26 gallons (98L) - 1500 short box models
² 34 gallons (129L) - 2500/3500 short box models
² 35 gallons (132L) - 1500/2500/3500 long box models

I stretched my luck this week
i ran the 32 gallon tank in my '09 Ram down to where the light came on, it came on when the estimated mileage until empty read 49 miles

This was the 2nd time that the light came on since i have owned it

I don't like to see that light come on, as it means that the in tank fuel pump is close to being exposed & wouldn't have gas surrounding it to keep it cooled off, being exposed to heat can substantially cut the life of the fuel pump

Your evic will tell you your distance to empty along with mpg so you can calculate from there. When I get mine to where it says low fuel on the evic(less than 10 miles DTE) I'll put in 26 gallons or close to it(26 gallon tank) so I don't think the 4th gens are like the 3rd gens that when they read 0 DTE they have a 4 gallon reserve. Also the light(in the little boxes below evic) comes on depending on your driving style(calculates it based on speed I believe) because on the highway I've had it come on around 40-50 miles DTE but in the city it comes on around 25-30 miles DTE and that's with the evic displaying similar average mpg

I guess it depends on what tank you have. On my '98 1500 I had a 26gal tank and when it hit 1/8 tank on the guage the light would come on and there was approx 6gals left. In my '06 2500 with the 34gal tank the light comes on at about 1/16 tank on the guage and there is 7.5-8.5gals left.

My low fuel light comes on at exactly 30miles DTE, so the amount of fuel depends on whether I'm on the highway or in the city. Either way, when the DTE ='0', there is still about 5gal of fuel in the tank, which is needed by design to cool the fuel pump, so pushing it until it runs out of fuel, WILL cause damage to the fuel pump.
