Default Lowering a 4X4?

I have a 2011 QC. Will lowering it screw up the 4wd? I wanted to try to find a air ride suspension kit for it.

Just like when you lift a 4x4 beyond the smooth running limits of your half shaft or CV joints, excessive lowering to undesired CV angles will have the same effects in the binding issues when utilizing your 4x4. Could it be done? Sure it can. And being that you mentioned air suspension, i think your wanting to slam the frame to the ground which will take some fabrication, modification, and mucho dinero-ation, kind of like the pic? If you tackle this mod, we want before and after pics bud!

The lowest that's really safe for an everyday driver is a 2/4 drop for a 4x4. Any more than that and you're looking at issues with the CV joints. Now, being a lowered 4wd myself I am getting a set of half-shafts fabbed up with the porche 960 CV joint which can handle up to 35 degrees and 450ft-lbs, but most people don't want to spend $2500 on a set of custom half-shafts.

As for air ride, it's straight forward if you just match your spring sizes and swap bags for springs, but you do have to be aware of your shock compression limits or you can settle your shocks and wreck them in short order.

I dropped my 4X4 lower than 2-4, but I have custom coil overs all four corners. I also had to notch the frame out back for the top link and rear.
