I pay $80.83/month for my 2010 CC Laramie 4x4 and $68.24/month for the wife's 2011 Tahoe LT 2WD. I'm 34, she's 30 and we both have clean driving history. I've been with USAA for 12 years now and they are the best insurance company I've had!

In theory yes it would be.

A 4WD vehicle costs more than the 2WD, so it makes sense that they will charge you more money.

It's ridiculous how cheap your insurance is in the US compared to Canada.... Here I'm paying $287/month on my 2012 Ram. And that's with a 20% safe driving discount!!

We are young males driving 4x4 Trucks.. Insurance companies drool over us and teens driving ricers.. Now theoretically speaking, if you were a female it would probably be cut in half.
My brother got his g2 few months ago (17 at the time), and my dads friends daughter (17) got her g2 the same week... My parents insurance with him went up $120 a month... Theres went up $60 a year

I'm at around $2000 on a brand new 2013 Ram. ICBC for basic, and C. Direct for optional..including replacement cost. I know when I got a quote from the private insurance companies I saved almost $600 a year on my optional insurance on my old 03 duramax. I suspect your 100% with ICBC??

Brandon, are you part of an association? There are insurance companies here in Canada that offer cheap insurance for those associated with an association of some sort.
Engineering, Nursing, Dental, etc

Sorry, I was off by a bit. Just checked my bank statement and it's $237/month, not $287. But that's still way up there compared to everyone else here.

Yes I am 100% with ICBC. I forget what all the details are of my coverage but I know I didn't skimp out. The only thing I did was take the replacement cost off my truck for this year now because the cost of it was ridiculous. I'm thinking a good chunk of it has to do with my age... The other guys my age whipping around totalling off rice rockets and mustangs are screwing me over!

Keep in mind I only have the 20% discount so far too where you probably have the 40% or 43% (whatever it is you top out at).

The fact that I use my truck for work (to drive to and from job sites) also puts my insurance up a bit higher along with the amount of K I drive a year.

My mom is an insurance agent so she checked into everything for me to get the best cost for the coverage I needed. Again, I think a good chunk of it has to do with my age. Next year I'll look into the private side of it more again and see what comes up.

Nope. And in BC I'm not sure if it works that way. ICBC has the monopoly over basic coverage. Then as CanuckShooter said there are a few options for the option coverage through private companies, but not many.

Brandon, the problem is not your clean record....its your age.
Hate to say it, but the moment I hit 25 and began adding years to that and having a clean driving record, my insurance kept dropping.

I can say that when I was 21, I was paying $690/ month for insurance and could only be insured via a high risk insurance company.
Sucked balls as it was more than my car payment.....but being is sales I NEEDED a car and there was no way around it other than to drive clean for a few years which turned into a habit

So I would say what you are paying it pretty damn good for your age
