I'd go with a 3rd generation replacement/mod kit. Not cheap but you won't ever need to replace another OEM style bar.
You could also do a lindstad mod to your old bar. I did this over 9 years ago and mine is still holding up fine.

I know with the Luke's link I have to grind a section off and reweld a new portion on. don't currently have a welder so that's not.looking like it, although that shop is a couple hours from Rapid City lol. certainly wouldn't limp my truck there.

I sent an email to a company called Thuren Fabrication, they have a track bar, but its out of stock. anyone heard of them?

Sadly...I'm told Thuren doesn't make 2nd gen bars anymore. He's been "out of stock" for a couple years. You might check with http://www.dodgeoffroad.com/store_DORtrackbar.php
Danny is a long time 2nd gen fan that has taken up the cause for quality parts. His stuff isn't cheap, but it lasts. It's far better than skyjunker, and as good as anything Thuren used to make.
BTW tell Danny Dsertdog56 sent ya.

I've stumbled across that in my searching. I may consider that.

Lukes links DO NOT require any welding, Wherever you heard that is passing disinformation. It takes about 30 minutes on the bench to install a rebuildable drivers side end on your track rod, and thats if you're holding a beer in one hand. From that point forward, it's totally rebuildable. It also works for tierod ends, I have a pretty good collection of long tierods and old trackrods, but they piled up before I found out about those links, since installing them, I've never had to tighten up or rebuild, or replace them. Some of the best aftermarket money I've spent in my life, just don't beat on the threaded ballstud, when you're removing the assembly, thats the only part you will be reusing. And grease it once in awhile. My trucks are only half tons, if I had a 3/4 ton, and carried a vee plow, I might consider a heavier rod than factory, otherwise, no factor. Once you grind the old factory crimp off, your ballsocket you'll be horrified at the low quality they are initially assembled with. My 2 cents....
