Default Nite shades results (pics)

I have been considering buying new smoked LED tails but finally decided to just try Nite Shades on my stockers. I did the tails, third brake light, and license plate lights (which were oxidizing into a yellowish color anyway). I used three coats of Nite Shades and 4-5 coats of clear. I will probably regret not leaving the backup lights clear but I think it looks better and I didn't have to mess with taping them up, lol. They are drying overnight and I will wet sand and polish them tomorrow. Here's a few quick pics. I'll post more when they are reinstalled.

That looks really good. I only see one problem with the license plate lights. At least here in Oregon, the cops will pull you over if your plate's not clearly visible at night... Might need to throw some LED's in there... I'm hoping to do the same thing pretty soon. I'm waiting to replace the stock bulbs with LED's though. Not sure the stock bulbs will shine through enough. Would be interesting to see how dark they are with incandescents.

Actually I just went out and checked and they still light the plate up plenty. I think they still provide plenty enough light to keep it legal. I tried to take a pic for you but the camera on my phone is basically useless after dark. I will take some with the wife's good digi cam when I get them back in.

From what I understand they are still plenty bright enough if you don't go any darker than three coats. I plugged one in and held it in my hand just to look at it earlier today. It wasn't even dark yet and it still seemed fairly bright. I guess we will see tomorrow, lol.

Cool!! Thanks for the info!

Does the red really show through the Nite Shades better than the white? Or does it just seem that way because of the red one being LED? I always thought using a same color bulb as the lens it is behind is a no-no. I wonder if a red incandescent bulb would have the same effect?

Looks really good! I did mine and would prefer a little more visibility during day time. I'm using stock bulbs currently. Would love LED but doesn't it mess up the turn signal flasher? Still though I think I am legal, but just barely.

In my state I believe the law is that the light must be visibly illuminated red from 1,000 ft. Now that's very objective because at night it will pass for sure, during the day maybe....and in direct sunlight definitely not. I'd bet many stock cars wouldn't pass that test in direct sunlight...

I've had many cops pull behind me and I haven't been pulled over. I also have illegal tint. Cops here are pretty good about that stuff, as long as you're not doing something stupid, speeding, racing, driving reckless, etc...

Yeah. All depends on where you are and how picky the cops are. Some are @$$holes, some aren't.
