Default Check Engine Light 2012, 6.7L Diesel

Looking for advice from any forum members who have experienced a check engine light resulting from turbo fins getting excesive sooting. My dealer keeps telling me the truck isn't "worked hard enough" and it's the governments fault for higher emission standards. At 33,000, my truck has had the exhaust burn-out mode come on only once. I think I'm getting the run around from the dealer who's had my truck in for service about 8 times. HELP!!

Excessive soot buildup on the turbo is a known issue that plagues some 6.7 owners. From reading on the Cummins site, this is more a product of the excessive soot that is created to allow our DPFs to work properly. It is possible that you are compounding the issue if you do not tow or drive at highway speeds for very long but that is not the cause. There is a cleaning procedure for the dealership to follow and you should hold them to it.

This is just another reason why I deleted mine at 5000 miles.
