Default Lowering a 4x4, let the hate mail begin

Hear me out first. There is a logic to this I promise. Before I would NEVER consider lowering a 4x4. EVER. It would be sacrilege. This was my thought process, lower two wheel drive anything and lift any four wheel drive. But after nearly buying a regular cab, short bed, 4x2 I ended up buying the same thing but in 4x4. Those trucks were sort of hard to find, in anything more than base model work trucks, in my area. They just aren't popular here in Virginia. Texas, Arizona, southern California and places like that sure but not here. So I figured that id they were hard to find that it may be hard to sell too.

I have had many lifted 4x4's, mostly Jeeps, and RARELY ever used 4x4 so it was mostly about the look. the expense related to doing that and maintaining a lifted truck doesn't make sense to me if I'm not going to do anything except drive on the road with it. i was going to stay simple with this truck and just do a leveling kit with some more aggressive tires and be done. The Goodyear whatevers that came on my truck are nice but look to be more for on road sport than anything else. I have 20's on my truck and just had a look at tire prices and was like ! So...I started thinking. This is basically the same truck (looks wise) as the 4x2 so why not just keep my brand new 20" street tires and lower the truck some. I'm not talking about slamming it! Just a couple of inches. The 4x4 will still be functional for whatever snow I may have to deal with and the truck will look great. I'll never need the ground clearance anyhow.

This is basically what mine would look like without the hood. And I would probably not be as low in the front.

Thoughts?

No hate mail here, that stance looks bad ass. Like you said, 90% of lifted trucks probably never get off asphalt. BTW, I see you're in Stafford, hey neighbor!!

That's how I see it! I just tinted my windows, went pretty dark (5%). Let's see how long it takes for me to start getting the tickets. Hey neighbor!

I hate you,I hate you.So there. No not really, actually I'm getting the air ride on my ordered truck because I like the lower look, even on 4x4's.The big Ram wheels/tires fit the contour of the big fender openings so well when they sit down a little.I leveled my current Express 4x4 by raising the front 2" but I'd rather have lowered the back 2".Around here, sometimes I do need clearance so lowering wasn't an option. With the new air ride I will have the ability to set the ride hight where I want for the conditions. Also makes getting in easier with my back problems.Go for it.The way I see it,you will have a truck that looks and handles more like a 2wd but with much more capabilty.

Oh wow, yeah good luck, VA State Troopers are relentless. I had 15% on my Dart and it took about 2 weeks until I got a ticket.

Good looking truck... Would I ever lower a truck? No. My biggest worry is anyplace that has winter has potholes... and my truck is my daily driver. A lowered truck is just asking for trouble.

More of a lift guy myself but lowered can look really cool too. That pic you put up looks BADASS! No denying lower = safer and better driver. Remember that mopar lowered white truck they put out. Few years ago. Ram blanco or something. Very cool.
