I understand Fla is screwed up. I was there for about a year. I just think that he should pursue the issue from a different angle as a wanton criminal act due to her secondary actions. It's like being caught for shoplifting. Once the person is caught they inevitably claim they were GOING to pay for it. it's the Schrodinger's cat paradox.

The reason I need to price replacing it myself is I need to compare the out of pocket cost to the cost of my deductible. I'd honestly rather have the sport bumper anyway so if it's only say a few hundred more than my deductible I'd just do that.

Insurance is required, and it is illegal to drive without it. However law enforcement does not enforce it and does basically nothing about it. I think I read that over 50% of drivers in FL carry no insurance and another 25% are underinsured(minimum).

I could go to court but won't, I know I'll get nothing. I've known other people with much better cases go through it and get nowhere(and eat the cost). My brother went through a case where someone stole his car and wrecked it(got in a high speed chase) and he got nothing and had to pay his own costs associated with going after the guy(he may have been reimbursed for that by his insurance company....not sure. But his insurance company wasn't even going to persue it, he had to himself).

Basically if the guy doesn't want to do anything they are off the hook and I'm screwed. So I need to either:

1) let it be
2) fix it and pay myself
3) file a claim(hope insurance doesn't go up??)
So go buy a car that barely runs for $500 and use it to take your frustration out on his car. No harm, no foul.

Oh I'm sorry...sue me.

And as we already know, this is probably all Canada's fault

This day sucked. Started off first thing with this accident. Had a stressful day then at the end of the day two of our dogs got in a "tussle" and like a moron I pulled them apart and got bit. I know better not to do that and don't know why I did, so now I have a puncture in my leg

you COULD price everything out, explain it all to the guy, if acts up, threaten small claims, listing all of what Drew said. basically scare him should he try to get screw you.

That's a good idea, I don't think I'll get anything from him(I don't think he has anything to give), but hey I think I'll be lucky just to get anything.

Thanks for the help all. Could be so much worse. Still sucks though. Do the right thing and get screwed. Do the wrong thing and get let off. That should be FL's insurance moto.

Sorry to hear about your delimma, but thanks for putting this info out. I'll be driving to Tampa in a few weeks to service some equipment that the company I work for has out there. I'll make sure and steer clear of the crazies on the road. Best of luck to ya!
