Default Can I get some opinions on my exhaust idea

Heres what I have. 2006 2500 4x4 qcsb Hemi with Vararam and Diablo trinity. My next step is exhaust which will be happening within the next month or so. My plans at this point are ARH long tube headers w/cats X pipe two Magnaflow 14"s true dual setup. I want the most performance with the sound to be as close to obnoxious as I can get. (I ride a Harley with strait pipes if that gives you an idea). What I'm not sure about is pipe size. Do I go with 2.5 or 2.25? One more thing it all has to be stainless steel.

I would say 2.5 or even 3. With all the extra flow your going to be getting I would go larger up to 3 inch.

I don't want to loose any torque I had heard that if the pipes are too big it would hurt rather than help. I do plan on discussing this with ARH when I order the headers and with the shop I'm gonna use. It's not going to be cheap and I only want to do it once.

I have 2.5" pipes on my 2 14" Magnaflows with an X pipe. Its not as loud as I thought it would be. Its really not much louder then my SIDO Flowmaster I had on before. I only have shorty headers though.

I had that Flowmaster setup on my last truck I sounded nice it just wasn't loud enough for me. The mufflers are not carved in stone at this point. I see Magnaflow makes a glass pack if they come in stainless I may go that route.

Well I completely didn't think about the true dual set up. I was thinking headers into a Y then into a muffler. Then I would go 3 inch after the Y. I would probably say the 2.25 unless your planning on more major mods down the road. Honestly I don't see much of a gain to run true duals. The trucks I have seen are not that loud. I think it's because your not having as much flow into the muffle with 2 instead of one. I would do headers, Y, and into a 14 magnaflow. If that's not loud enough then it's just a muffler change.

If I could do my truck over again, I would do it exactly like that but with an electric cut out on it

Nothing else planned for the motor unless it fails but I don't see that happening, its only got 60,000 miles in it. If I can get what I am looking for with a SIDO it would be cheaper to go that route. It all depends on what the guys at ARH and here say. There has to be someone here that has a similar setup or real world info on what I'm looking for which is power and sound. Power being the most important.

The only ram I have heard with headers was running a cam as well but he had an 18" magnaflow single in dual out dumped and it was a lot louder than my 14". I'm pretty sore due to all the extra flow pushing through one muffler. I'm sure some other guys will chime in on this though. I have read several threads about people with true duals and others with running into a Y and single muffler and if I recall correctly the second option is usually preferred.

if your state doesn't do inspections..delete the cats as well... if I did true duals, I would do 2.5" pipes after muffler... I'll throw the monkey wrench in..consider true duals to muffler, an H instead of X (for tq)...then take a single in/dual out maggie and rotate 180 degrees...and, at your option, add cutouts..
