Default 2012 Ram 3500 Speaker Upgrade

Had the truck for a month and I finally got around to replacing the factory door speakers in the Cummins. Still have to find dash speakers, thinking of tweeters only instead of a full range 3.5", and next will be new head unit, amps and sub. I've got the factory sirius subscription that I don't want to just throw away so going to have to live with just speaker upgrade for now.

I put Rockford Fosgate T152 in the front with the supplied adapter plates and T1692's in the back which fit with just a slight mod to the window regulator support. Definitely have better high end sound but surprisingly I don't notice any improvement in bass, maybe lost some if any. Thinking the Fosgates need some real power behind them to work, so when I get around to installing an older Pheonix Gold 4 channel for the doors it should improve.

As for wiring colours I used the AA battery trick to decipher polarity and this is what I found:
LF + grey/yellow
- grey/purple

RF + green/yellow
- green/purple

LR + grey/dark green
- grey/light green

RR + green/pink (don't have my glasses but it looks pink!)
- green/yellow (again without glasses it looks like faint yellow)

And I have the base radio/non-alpine setup with no sub, just 6 speakers

A few pics, I forgot to get pics of the fronts with the new speakers but got the rears

What's the AA battery trick? Just curious.
I'm in the process of upgrading my 2012 2500 diesel big horn

If I'm not mistaken, the factory speakers are 2ohm. If this is the case and you are using 4 ohm speakers then you are definitely going to notice a difference in the output of the new speakers-especially with the bass. Yes, an amp will definitely let the new speakers play to their full potential.

2 ohm speakers only for Alpine system I believe. Base is 4 ohm.

A good set of 2 way dash speakers will make a world of difference for the higher frequencies.

I am amazed at the difference a good set of 3.5" 2 way speakers make in this truck. I've been listening to a lot of the same music for over 30 years and I'm hearing stuff that I've never heard before. Like in Bring it on Home by Zeppelin for example, I don't recall ever hearing what sounds like drum sticks tapping together to the beat during the verses.

Did you get this figured out?

It could be possibly that one or more of your polarities are off. One more thing you could check/rule out.
