Default TQ Converter noise...

Is it a grinding or does it sound like a playing card in a bicycle wheel?

When I take my foot off the gas to coast at speeds over 20mph, I get a sound that sounds just like this, but its very very faint. If the windows are up or its noisy around you it cant be heard inside the truck. But if you are in a neighborhood its nuts!

The converter "warble" noise is typically under light cruise conditions (not coasting). I think the best description is that it sounds like a frisbee sliding across concrete.

TransEngineer, I am reporting back....dealer says it was a "thrust bearing" in the converter. Replacement part has been ordered. Great service at Tacoma Ram/Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep!

I get what I can explain as a "fan noise" Like a electric fan turned on but it does it when i feather the throttle around 20mph.

I'm thinking this is the Torque Converter issue?

The T/C noise is typically heard at higher speeds (under very light cruise), like ~50 mph. I don't think a noise at 20 mph would be this particular problem.

Default Slippage

Mark (Trans Engineer)

My problem is when I go into passing gear it is a "crisp and clean" shift. When it comes out of passing gear (5000 rpm) it feels like their is slippage and not a clean shift. It does not "slip" all the time. One time while coasting, I then reapplied throttle and truck shook bad. Just that one time. I got TSB 18-023-11 printed to take with me to the dealer, also have the tech remove all shift points and let the trans relearn. Thanks.
