Default Ignition FOB

Not sure if the FBO is a option or not, but my 2012 has a FOB rather than a standard ignition key.
The other day, I could not get the FOB out of the ignition - - turned it on and off several time and would not come out - - ended up starting the truck, putting it into gear and moving a bit. Then when I turned the ignition off, I was able to remove the FOB.

Anybody else had an issue with this?

Also, is the FOB standard on all 2012, model XLT ?

I worry that I could be forced to leave the FOB in the ignition, and then of course the truck would probably be stolen.

Thanks,
Balloo

I have a 2012 ST and my ignition FOB has a regular key inside it in case you need to lock your doors and cannot get the FOB out of the ignition.

Thanks for the reply - - I have the same set up, with the little key HOWEVER, the truck can still be stolen, they would just bust the window, and drive away.

I sure hope they did not give us the little key because they know the FOB will sometimes stick in the ignition.

I had this problem before as well. Fortunately I remembered having the same problem on an F-150 I had. All it means is that the shifter is not all the way in park. So if it happens again, just make sure that your shifter is all the way in the P position.

I don't think they put the little key in your FOB in case it gets stuck and can't remove it. That being said, you may need to get your truck checked, I have had my truck now for over 7 months and have never had the FOB stuck in the ignition unit. If it occurs often, take it to the dealer and have them check whats wrong, its under warranty.

From the Owner's Manual:
CAUTION!
If your vehicle battery becomes low or dead, your Key Fob will become locked in the ignition.
Do not attempt to remove the Key Fob while in this condition, damage could occur to the Key Fob or ignition module. Only remove the emergency key for locking and unlocking the doors.
Leave the Key Fob in the ignition and either:
Jump Start the vehicle.
Charge the battery.
I'd get the battery checked.

If the battery in the FOB goes dead will it still let truck start?
Can you get a dummy FOB blank?

Thanks - - I will have it checked by the dealer, just to be safe.
The battery seems fine, as it started as if normal charge in battery.

X 2 on that. This happened to me a couple of times when my truck was brand new. It was just a hair from being all the way in park. Guess I am used to it now, because it has not happened since then.

I had this same problem , and the dealer ended up resetting the shift cable . It can also be adjusted . This change and being a little more forceful in shifting into park has taken care of the problem .
I also found , as you did , that reshifting into park would release the key .
